Change Your Perspective

Ecclesiasties 3:9-13 MSG

But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I’ve had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift.

As I read this scripture and looked out the window on my flight back to school I could not see anything. I often open my window because I love seeing everything below me from a different perspective.

This morning the sky was not as bright and beautiful as it usually is. It was very foggy and you could not see anything around you. In that moment I realized our perspectives must shift when we are going through the places where we cant see. We often tell God to show us the other side of what we are going through. But remember that you are going through. Take heartin the fact that when you go through it means you are going to come out.

“True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift.”

I love this portion of the scripture from the message Bible. God makes everything beautiful in its time. We may not know where He is going or where He is taking us, but just like I had to do on my flight this morning–enjoy the ride. Enjoy the process. Make the most of that time. Our perspective needs to come off “God what is going on,” to “God I’m just the passenger and I’m going to enjoy the ride.” I know it can be difficult when you cannot see the other side of your situation or circumstance. A while after the ride I was able to see the beautiful sky off in the distance. Keep riding, the other side is just in the distance. Let God do a work in the process. No one wants to go through the process, even our Savior asked the Father to take that cup from Him. But he endured in spite of. Just hold on. God is going to bring you to the other side beforw you know it and you will be asking, “How did I get here?” Your promise is just on the other side.
