Useful and Qualified

I was in the store a few weeks ago and I saw this little girl with her mom holding a big bag of toilet paper on her head and she said, “I’m useful.” I feel like someone needs to start telling themselves that. Say it to yourself in the mirror. Not only are you useful, but you have a purpose attached to your life. A purpose is the reason for which something is created. When you were created by God, He had a purpose for you. You have a use, you are useful. Maybe you haven’t discovered your purpose yet, but don’t worry! Keep praying for God to show you and He will reveal it in time. I didn’t discover mine until I was 23. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Be confident that God started a work in you from the moment you were formed in your mother’s womb and He will be faithful to complete what He began.

Let me dig a little deeper here. We’ve recognized that we are useful and now we must recognized that we are qualified. You may be saying there is no way that I could possibly be qualified to do anything in this life. I have no skills, the only job I had is a cashier. Let me share a famous quote with you. “God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called!” I said that I realized my purpose at the age of 23 and I am 25 right now. I am not even close to walking in what God has called me to, but that doesn’t discourage me. I am in a season of learning and a season of observing. Even if I’m not working in my functioning in the full capacity of my purpose I know that I am still useful. Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Despite the fact that I may not be walking in my full purpose I still commit everything I do as unto the Lord. I trust that what He says about my future is true, and I know that He will bring it to pass in His proper timing.

Sometimes we forget that Jesus did not fulfill his ministry and his calling until he was 30 years old. Some of us are complaining asking God why we aren’t functioning in our purpose now, but what do you think Jesus was doing all that time since we last saw him as a boy in the temple. He was studying, he was training, he was learning. One of my favorite speakers, Heather Lindsey, said she did not see a stage for 9 years after the Lord shared with her what her purpose was. Every day it is a stretch and it is an opportunity to grow, to study, and to learn. Allow God to really transform you because there are a lot of people who find out their purpose and think that they are supposed to just walk in it just like that. No honey. It takes time, it takes work. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “ For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”

But let me encourage you. Anything that is created has a purpose attached to it. I said earlier that purpose is the reason something is created. Which means when God created you, He had a specific purpose in mind for you. Now you may even be feeling unqualified. I have felt this so many times in my walk. And I still feel it even now sometimes. But we cannot allow these thoughts to get the best of us. They are nothing more than lies of the enemy. Being qualified means that something or in this case someone, is fitted for a specific purpose. You were created with purpose in mind from the time you were formed in your mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13 says, For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” God qualified you from the moment He created you for something far beyond what you can imagine. It says in His Word that He appointed you as a prophet to the nations. He appointed you to be a carrier of His voice. Trust in His ways. Trust in His plans.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

sharedDesign (1)God is more than aware about the plans that He has for your life. There is nothing in His plan that is set up to harm you. He has a future in mind and His future for us is much bigger than we could possibly even think or imagine. I never would have thought that I would be even sitting here writing this blog. I never thought I would own my own website. I had people emailing me and asking me if I would write a post for their blogs and their websites. I even thought about studying journalism, but eventually this is where the Lord led me. I never would have thought He would have graced me in this area to be part of my calling. I truly hope this post blesses you. I know what is like to feel useless and unqualified, but let me assure you.  God has more purpose for your life than you can even imagine. What you think is one thing can be something completely different in His mind. Love you all so much and be sure to visit the store. Lots of items on sale and under 10 dollars.
