Weary in Doing Well?

“In my weakness, He made me dependent.” – Trip Lee: Sweet Victory

Lately I have been on a serious kick. I have consistently been listening to Sarah Jakes Roberts, the daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes. One of the things she repeats over and over again is that you have to recognize what is down on the inside of you.

During my quiet time earlier this weak the Lord led me to look up scriptures about weariness.

Weary – calling for a great amount of energy or endurance, tiring and tedious

The definition of weary sounds a lot like this walk to me. I feel that sometimes we think we are in this things alone. As of recently I have been experiencing a lot of different trials in my life. I have the joy of the Lord, but I’m noticing that I need so much more than my own strength to walk through these situations.

One thing that I recognized about weariness is that when we are weary, it means that we are trying to walk what we are trying to walk out in our own strength. To be weary means you are completing a task while walking in your own strength alone. God was already aware that this walk was not going to be an easy one, so He left us His Word and His Spirit to help us continue on the path of righteousness.

Matthew 26:41

…The Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Even in scripture God shows us that our flesh is weak. Our flesh can only handle so much. Our Spirit will always be willing, but on our own we can only handle but so much. We have to come to a place where we allow the Spirit to take over and where we recognize what is deep down on the inside of us. It is only then that we will be able to conquer the tests and trials of life. We have to come to a place where we begin to rely on the Holy Spirit that lies on the inside of us. I want to show you all how the Lord helped me to dissect this particular passage of scripture about weakness.

Isaiah 40:28-31
28Have you not known?
Have you not heard,
that the everlasting God, the Lord,
the Creator of the ends of the earth,
does not faint, nor is He weary? (God is not flesh, He is not a man)
His understanding is inscrutable. (Impossible to understand or interpret; beyond our own understanding)
29 He gives power to the faint, (He gives power to man and those who walk in the flesh)
and to those who have no might He increases strength. (He gives us the ability to endure)
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall, (There are those who lack in spiritual maturity; Those who are spiritually mature will depend on the Lord)
31 but those who wait upon the Lord (Expectant; patient; trust in His timing & in Him; Have faith)
shall renew their strength; (Revive; Restore)
they shall mount up with wings as eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
and they shall walk and not faint.

This is the promise from the Lord. If we wait on Him; if we don’t faint in doing well; if we rely on Him for our strength, we will be able to walk this thing out. It is easy to give up, but there is something about when you recognize what God has placed on the inside of you where you start saying things to yourself like, “I’ve got this.” I find myself repeating scriptures out loud before I walk into a room, declaring things into the atmosphere and over my day. This is all because I recognize what is on the inside of me and because I recognize that God is not a man. He is not like me. He is faithful and He does not give up on us as easy as we tend to give up on Him. We must learn to trust Him and what is in His hand for us even when we can’t see it.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.

DO NOT GIVE UP! Your harvest is coming. Just because your harvest does not look like this person’s harvest over here or that person’s harvest over there does not mean that you will not reap what you’ve sown. Sow in doing well. Sow while depending on Him for strength and don’t give up because you don’t see it right in front of you.

Psalm 37:5

Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.

We are always looking for God to bring our desires to fruition, but He is looking for us to JOIN our desires with His. When we commit our ways to His, we know that He is faithful to do what He said He would do. He is not a man that He should lie, and He is the God of the impossible. He can do far beyond what man can do and He is stronger than we are in our own strength.

Love you all,
